Frequently Asked Questions
How do I register my child for a program?
Registration is completed online through our website. Simply select the desired program, complete the required information, and submit payment to secure your spot.
Does my child need experience?
No. We welcome players of all experience levels, from beginners to more advanced players. Our recreational baseball and softball programs are designed to teach fundamentals, build confidence, and foster a love of the game through experienced coaches and league staff.
For players seeking a more competitive environment, FMYSA offers tryouts for our Select Baseball program, the Texas Rattlers, and our Select Softball program, Texas Glory. FMYSA is a developmental league that provides opportunities for players to learn, improve, and grow into more advanced levels of play as their skills progress.
How often do you practice?
Practices are determined by the coach at the Coaches Meeting. Each team is assigned three practice time options. Once games begin, practice availability becomes more limited, as game schedules take precedence over practice field usage.
What is included in the registration fee?
Registration fees help cover league administration, scheduling, field usage, supplemental insurance, and officials (when applicable).
Recreational Baseball and Softball
Registration includes the player's uniform shirt and hat/headband.
Select Baseball and Softball
Participation in Select programs requires additional expenses beyond registration fees, including but not limited to uniforms, tournament entry fees, team fees, indoor training facilities, and additional practice locations. Costs vary by team and level of play.
What is your refund or cancellation policy?
If a Rec baseball or softball player chooses to withdraw, then the following refund policy applies:
- FMYSA will refund 90% of your registration fees prior to the player being placed on a team and rosters being set.
- FMYSA will refund 50% of your registration fees once rosters are set but prior to the first game.
- FMYSA will refund 0% after the first game has been played.
Rattler / Glory players will receive their registration (minus service charges) after rosters are set and prior to first tournament.
Please email your request to {{content_library.global.email.email}} with player name and reason for refund.
How can I contact the organization with questions?
You can contact the League Administrator during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Messages received outside of these hours will be addressed as soon as possible during the next business day.
What equipment is required?
Required equipment for all baseball and softball players includes:
A batting helmet (softball players must have a helmet with a face protector)
A baseball or softball glove/mitt
Cleats
Coaches may recommend additional equipment, such as bats, fielding masks, batting gloves, or equipment bags, but these items are not required for participation.
Are volunteers or coaches needed?
Our programs rely on volunteer coaches and helpers. If you’re interested in volunteering, you can indicate your interest during registration or contact us directly.
How will I receive updates and announcements?
All updates are sent via email and posted on Facebook. Please ensure your contact information is accurate so you don’t miss important communications.
Are games played on holidays?
Holiday schedules vary by program. Any planned games or breaks will be communicated in advance.
How are coaches trained or screened?
All FMYSA coaches and team managers are required to complete annual screening and training through the USA Baseball BASE (Baseball Athlete Safety Education) program.
Requirements include:
- A national background check
- Abuse Awareness for Adults training
- USA Baseball Code of Conduct acknowledgment
All coaches must also be registered volunteers with FMYSA and remain in good standing with the league. These requirements help ensure a safe, positive, and development-focused environment for all players.
FMYSA is committed to player safety and coach education, providing families with confidence that coaches have completed nationally recognized training and screening standards.
